Comparison Vid: [...] I was sick and tired of the Razer knock off clicky switches. It was nice for a couple months, but now it is quite irritating and unsatisfying to type on. Therefore I decided to get the Corsair Strafe RGB with MX Brown switches. DESIGN: Personally I like this design better than the Blackwidow. The Blackwidow seems to have a matte fingerprint/oil attracted finish to it. This keyboard however has a clean sleek design that trumps that Blackwidow. The finish on this keyboard seems to be fingerprint resistant and doesnt seem to stain as easy as the Blackwidow. ALSO IT COMES WITH THE OG CORSAIR SAILS LOGO (THANK YOU CORSAIR) not the new "Corsair Gaming" logo that everybody hated. KEYS: I have never owned a Cherry MX Keyboard until now and IT IS AMAZING TO TYPE ON. This keyboard has the option of MX Browns, Reds, or Corsairs "Silent Switches." I decided to get Browns because its halfway between a Red(Silent) and Blue (Clicky) switch, basically the best of both worlds. Browns are not as loud as blues, theyre nearly the same as Reds actually. Its just that Brown switches have a more tactile feedback feel when you type on them compared to Reds. The keycaps themselves on the other hand are similar in feel and look to the Razer keycaps. BUT Corsair includes a set of FPS and MOBA keycaps ALONG WITH a keycap puller so you can customize it to your needs. Props to Corsair for that. LEDS: The casing for the keycaps are clear so you get the maximum shine of color from the switches. Every switch has their own RGB LED that is customize able to what game youre gonna play. There are also two white LED strips on the side of the keyboard to add a nice clean finish to the keyboard. I have attached pictures to clarify. And there are 3 brightness settings for you to choose from. OTHER: Like I said before, Corsair throws in some extra accessories to sweeten the deal: -MOBA/FPS Keycaps -Keycap puller -Detachable wrist rest (which is quite comfortable to use actually) Now to the reason why Im giving this 4 stars... SOFTWARE: Im just gonna say it, the Razer Synapse software for the Chroma is much better than Corsairs CUE software. It took me about 30 minutes to an hour to figure out how to set a certain keycap a certain color. They do have instructions on their website, but its not clear enough for all the features. When I got my Razer Blackwidow Chroma, it was simple (INSANELY SIMPLE) to customize the LEDS to your specific needs. However for Corsair, it seems like theyre getting there but ever so slowly. For example you need to go to 3 or 4 different pages on Corsair software to set all the keys white and WASD a different color. It was just a very frustrating experience for me using the CUE software. Hopefully in the future it will be on the same level as Razers Synapse. OVERALL PROS: -Cherry MX Browns -Design -Price (Cheaper than Blackwidow Chroma) -Accessories (Keycaps/wrist rest) -USB Passthrough CONS: -CUE Software - No headphone/mic passthrough In the end, I recommend this keyboard to anyone who is looking for an upgrade or their first mechanical keyboard. The price of $149 is very much worth it considering all the extra accessories that come along with it. As for the software, give it some more time and Im sure major improvements will be made. Those felt amazing, so I thought. After around 10 minutes of typing and playing Battlefield 1, I realized these switches feel cheap and are not good for me. I did a bunch more research and decided I must have a keyboard with RGB lighting. Of all the keyboards that I saw through videos on YouTube, the Strafe was the most impressive. I tried to find a Strafe RGB with blue switches to mimic the Razer greens, but I could only find a refurbished one at Newegg for $150. Turns out there were issues with them and theyre no longer being made. I decided to go with the Reds because thats what many gamers I know use. I have been using this keyboard for 11 days now and I am very satisfied with it. The software is easy to use and allows for customization, the keys feel great when typing and when playing (FPS games that is), it looks really pretty, and it even has a USB port. But to use that you will need to plug in the second USB that is attached to the keyboards main cable. All in all, everything about this keyboard is absolutely wonderful. In case you didnt know, there are a few people that that frequent r/RGB Profiles on Reddit and the Corsair forums that create custom RGB lighting schemes that you can use with Corsair peripherals. Everyone can make custom profiles, but it is tough and is much easier to download profiles. I also own a Corsair M65 Pro and I found a guy through the Corsair RGB forums that lets you download free lighting schemes for all devices- so theyre in sync. He even has really great videos demonstrating the lights. He goes by "Schwitz". I am very satisfied with this keyboard. I attached a video of some of my favorite profiles. We have Windows 10 and it was a little weird to install. I used our old keyboard to download the software and had to restart at least once and just wait for the keyboard to start registering keystrokes, but it somehow snapped to it. I have another device with Cherry MX Brown keys and its such a pleasure to use for writing. The Blue are even clackier and old school, with very clear, distinct keying. The USB pass through is really nice as well. If you wait for it to be on sale like $100 dollars for the RGB, then its a really good deal. There are some cons though: the cable is very thick and there is no cable management which might be a problem for some. The software is hard to use and only for windows no linus or mac software compatibility(there is a unofficial software called ckb for mac, and it works great). The pros: keys are nice and fast, I have the browns which have the really nice tactile feedback. The RGB is bright and can show really fun patterns and designs. The build great and solid even without the glossy metal like on the K70. One important thing to note is that on my personal keyboard one of the keys light went off and stayed off on the first day I got it. I tried unplugging and re plugging and restarting the software but no luck, the key still works but the light doesnt. It bugs me but is no problem cuz the key still works. Overall this is the best keyboard for the price and the pros overweight the cons. I bought a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones almost two years ago for my now twelve year old daughter, and I was so impressed with them that I decided to buy this pair after checking out all of the positive reviews. Well, the majority of reviews were spot-on. These things put out very good sound and I was most happy to hear that the bass was not overpowering. (That was my biggest fear before purchase). The battery life on these headphones is excellent, as well as the charging time. The fit is superb. Although they may be marketed as "on ear", they are nearly "over the ear" phones, and, very comfortable I might add. The cans arent too big and they arent too small....they are just right. (Funny, where have I heard that before?) They have virtually no sound leakage either (yes, sounds weird, but really, the person on the side of you wont hear all of your jam), which is especially good for those long airplane flights or bus rides. And last but not least, the price is right. At under one hundred dollars they simply cant be Beat(s). (No pun intended) Do yourself a favor,....stop racking your brain reading all these reviews, and buy these very good sounding, stylish, easy to use, easy to connect-to-Bluetooth, Bluetooth headphones. I think these are the best bluetooth headphones for 100 bucks. Sony did a great job on these. Pros: 30 hours battery Nice design NFC pairing (just hold your phone to the NFC sign and it will automatically connect to them every time, even if the headphones are off) Great bluetooth range (can walk around my apartment and the connection does not suffer anywhere) They sound really good. Better than my beats headphones. No cons for me. Now if you compare them to the XB950s there are some differences. I believe they both have their pros and cons. The XB650s have these things over the XB950s: Better design. These are much smaller and they dont look like huge earmuffs like the 950s. 30 hours battery life compared to the 20 hours on the XB950s. Lighter in weight compared to the XB950s. These actually tell you the battery level compared to the XB950s which you have to look at confusing light pulses. Better balanced sound and still has a lot of bass. The XB950s have these things over the XB650s: It has an AUX port if you decide not to use bluetooth. The XB650s do not have an AUX port. It has an "extra bass" button and the XB650s do not. Sound is a tiny bit louder than the XB650s. Overall I think the XB650s are better. The aux port that the 950s have is not a big deal to me because my laptop and phone have bluetooth. Also, the aux port on the 950s only work with that specific aux cable that it comes with. The headphones design makes it so that other aux cables will not be able to fit in the slot. The Extra bass boost button on the 950s are also not a big deal to me. The 950s without the bass boost already sound really bass heavy and the button is just overkill. And I like bass. I mostly listen to hiphop too so its not like I am a person listening to classical music. I do like that the 950s are a little bit louder. But its not a real big difference and definitely not enough of a difference for me to choose the 950s over the 650s. I would say that the 650s are bass heavy headphones and the 950s are a little bit too much even without the bass boost on. Overall, the smaller look, the longer battery life, the more balanced sound are all reasons why I chose the 650s over the 950s. And the 650s are 98 bucks right now on amazon. Definitely worth the money. Ive had the 950s for since around Christmas so about 5 months and they have been my main headphones until now that I got the 650s. I just really did not like how the 950s look like huge earmuffs on your head. They also felt heavy while wearing them. The 650s took care of these issues and are now my go to headphones. My wife has a pair of the 950s that I really liked (bass is ridiculous but better to have too much and EQ it out). Unfortunately the 950s cost $200 and I just didnt feel like going there for my sometimes-y listening. I saw these for $130 and while still above what I wanted to spend, they had a pair at the store in a listening kiosk and I was blown away. They actually sounded better balanced than the 950s (which were also in the kiosk) yet still churned out tons of bass. Here are my explained thoughts: Build Quality (B): "Very" lightweight with a metal band connecting the cans via a sandwich of generic plastic that have decent adjustability. The cups can swivel 180 deg so you can lay them around your neck in a little more comfort or store them flat. They dont feel expensive but dont look cheap. I got black cause Im not flashy but saw the blue and red and they certainly show off some of the design elements better. Fit, Comfort, Operation (A): I usually prefer over-the-ear headphones but these on-the-ear phones do an amazing job of creating a seal that keeps bleed in or out very low. They are very lightweight so fatigue should not be an issue and theres no pressure points on the ears or on the top of the head. The controls are all on the right cup and work smoothly and provide great feedback. Uses standard micro USB for charging. This set does not have a wired option like the 950. I have not run the battery down as I charge it every other night I use it and I probably never will if it gets even close to the 30 hours of battery advertised. Sound (A): The most important part. There is a strong V profile to all these "ExtraBass" headsets and some people may be bothered by this colored sound but it does a good job of presenting you good amounts of everything from low to high. The bass is strong but not silly like the 950s are capable of. I did EQ everything from 125Hz down by -3db to get to my taste. Highs and mids are crisp and clean and overall reproduction should sound great most ears. Time will tell how well they hold up but the sound is amazing, comfort is high and the price (at least for me) was very reasonable. I did not purchase from Amazon (had store credit for a return). Prior to that I was an MX510/MX518 user. So this is my first time delving into Zowie products. I did so under the recommendations from MANY people Ive gamed with competitively. Teammates, etc. Ill go into my thoughts now and give a rundown at the end. Coming from a deathadder that I always felt was just a little too big, the EC2-A fits my hand perfectly. I have a 17.5cm hand from the base of my palm to the tip of my middle finger, so pretty small. With that said, theres a few mm clearance from the tip of my index and middle finger to the edge of the mouse buttons. I use a palm/claw hybrid grip. The coating on this mouse is excellent. It feels almost like satin in your hand. Very smooth with just a hint of texture. Its VERY grippy once your hands get a little damp from sweat but can feel slippery if you have very dry hands. For me this isnt really an issue since within about 5 minutes of gaming my hand starts to perspire a bit. The mouse is weighted perfectly at around 80-85g.. not too light, and not too heavy. The shape is very comfortable in the hand. The EC shape is the PERFECT shape for accommodating ANY style of grip whether it be palm, claw, fingertip or a hybrid. Next: The sensor. From all the testing Ive done, the 3310 implentation is flawless in the EC2-A. The Pixart 3310 sensor is well regarded in the peripheral community as being an excellent sensor, only being edged out by Logitechs exclusive Pixart 3366 in both the G502 and G303. However, the 3310 is more than capable of giving you rock solid results. There is zero NOTICEABLE acceleration in this mouse. The reason I say noticeable is that there is acceleration in every sensor except the 3366, but its only able to be produced under a perfect/specific scenario. Regardless, its not enough to feel it. Its a small enough effect to still consider this mouse PERFECT in terms of tracking accuracy. The 3310 has a PCS(basically the max speed in which it will track) of OVER 5 m/s.. and in any normal gaming situation(no matter how intense), no normal human will reach those speeds during fast swipes. This mouse has some of the lowest lift off distance Ive ever experienced, and the good thing about the 3310 is that it allows you to change LOD settings without having to use a special lens for the sensor(which zowie used to do). Low LOD is a must for any competitive gamer, especially those that play with low sensitivity on games like CS:GO. The LOD out of the box is less 2mm. A little more than 1 cd width. I find this to be the perfect setting but you can set the mouse based on the type of mouse mad you use, whether soft or hard. There is zero cursor smoothing with this mouses 3310...and it feels very raw in desktop and in game. Its the first mouse Ive used that truly feels like Im getting 1:1 hand to cursor movement. Theres a reason Zowie chose this sensor. Construction: The mouse feels very durable. Its light, but it feels very well made. There is zero rattle. Zero noises when I squeeze the shell. The shell does not flex or give when you exert excess pressure on it. Switches: Here is one area I thought about taking a star away for. The side buttons. Which I will get to. The main buttons use Huano blue switches. Now, before you get on the Omron bandwagon, the Huanos function just as well, and will last just as long. The ONLY difference is the huanos are a bit stiffer as far as actuation goes. Huanos provide even more tactile feedback, and a louder click when pressed over omrons...but the main difference is the actuation force required. I have small hands and they do not fatigue me at all, no matter how much I spam. I in fact love these switches. You will NEVER get a mis-click with this mouse, and these main button switches. They are a good middle-ground switch. Now, the side buttons on this mouse can definitely be improved on by zowie. The reason I didnt take a star away is because they function perfectly and are shaped nicely, and put in a perfect location relative to where your thumb is placed such that you can easily roll your thumb upwards to depress them without changing your grip on the mouse. The problem is they are mushy and have some pre-travel to them before they actuation and coming from a mouse like the Deathadder which I feel has the best side buttons on the market..it took some getting used to. Zowie needs to change up how they implement them to make them not have this amount of pre-travel. However, with that said... the pre-travel on these switches make it almost impossible to mis-click them since youd know you were about to press the switch before it ever actuates. I have never misclicked a side button on this mouse. I did it ALL THE TIME with the the deathadder. Both the 4G and 3G versions. This is my only complaint with the mouse. Other information: The DPI steps on this mouse are 400/800/1600/3200 and for hardcore gaming, this is all that is needed. If you come from a mouse that allows you to change your dpi to more selections, it shouldnt take long to get used to unless you used a uselessly high DPI like 5000 or above, which no one needs even if you play on triple screens, or 4k monitors. You simply do not need that high of a DPI, and truth be told every sensor on the market performs BETTER at lower dpi settings because it wont have to rely on interpolation. Zowie is one of the only manufacturers on the market not involving itself in the "DPI RACE" that every other company out there hypes & markets on their mice. They give pro players what they ask for, and that is a simple plug & play mouse that doesnt rely on drivers, or shove software down your throat in order to use the mouse. You can change your polling rate and lift off distance, basic quality of life changes. Other than that, the mice is set up optimally for EVERYONE right out of the box, the only exception being your lift off distance settings, which for hard pad users you will have to change when plugging the mouse in by depressing and holding the specified button for the particular setting you want. This mouse just works. And it performs well beyond expectation. In summary: If youre a hardcore gamer, especially an FPS gamer looking for a no-nonsense mouse, if your main concern is EXCELLENT tracking, and having zero acceleration, prediction or angle snapping.. this is the mouse for you. If you want a LAN READY mouse that is plug & play with the essential dpi steps.. this is the mouse for you. Zowie hit it out of the park with this mouse. If youre a CS player, well.. HeatoN designed the EC shape, and zowie took that shape and put one of the best sensors available in it... and fixed the main issues such as the button click latency, and scroll wheel. I use a claw/fingertip grip and found I could never quite get comfortable with it. If the width of the back part came in a little bit, especially on the right side, I would have kept it. They press in way too far before they actuate and they feel very flimsy like they could break at any time. Also the one I bought had a defect with the sensor where it would sometimes continue to drift in the last direction I moved it even though I stopped moving the mouse. Whit that said, i must state that i am very satisfied with this mouse. Previously I was usig a generic small laptop mouse, so i got accustomed to smaller mice. i was fearing that the adaptation to this new product would be long and "painfull", however, for being a full size mouse the taipan is quite ligth weight. It is also a very sober alternative to the more flashy products designed for gamers (which i dont like): you can deactivate the razer logo back-light and it becomes a very subtle detail barely seeable in the mouse, so you can go to your office or laboratory and pretend to be a serious person. Considering my small mouse background i use a claw like grip, which is perfect for this mouse. Currently I dont use the side buttons, but they are prerfectly accesible (more on the thumb side) so i will certainly try to get some usefull functions linked to then trough the synapse program. overall 10/10 will buy more razer products in the future. Granted theyve made some products that were better than others, but relative to the products Ive tried, I would give them 6 stars out of 5. The first mouse I got from them, a Copperhead, lasted until a couple months ago (almost 10 years of active gaming), and its only the left click button which isnt responding (so still fixable). This one in particular, the Taipan, is no different than Copperhead, as in its an awesome piece of hardware! Very comfortable to use, light, ergonomic, a smooth texture/feel, high pointer precision, I have nothing bad to say about it. I kind of like the fact that this mouse is wired so I dont have to worry about charging batteries and the cord is as long as needed, I actually never took the twist tie off of the extra cord and have an ample amount. The cord is not your typical rubbery electronic cord like your phone charger, it is like woven with some sort of cotton like cover and its very flexible so you dont have to deal with it being kinked or making it awkward to push the mouse around. I really like this mouse and it is very responsive and seems to be very smooth. I really like the fact that the scroll wheel and the logo on the mouse glow, it makes it easy to see in the dark and it looks really cool. The side buttons by default are programmed to go back and forward on webpages which is pretty cool. Overall I think this is a great mouse and would recommend it to a friend. Prior to having this mouse, I just used a standard Logitech wireless laptop mouse. It was on its last legs after some abuse though, so after doing some research I settled upon the Razer Taipan as something I wanted to try out. Pros: -Beautiful looking mouse. I got the white color scheme one and it is definitely pretty to look at. Also matches my white/black PC tower. -Comfortable to hold, although it is definitely for smaller hands like other reviewers have said (the reason I bought it, Ive got some baby hands). The rubber grips on either side underneath the side buttons make a super good thumb rest. I use kind of a claw grip, but it seems like it would be okay palm as well. Havent noticed any hand fatigue so far, including game sessions of 8+ hours. -The tracking on the mouse seems to be relatively top notch from my experience. Granted, I did just move from a $20 dollar wireless mouse, so there was bound to be improvement. -The adjustable DPI is a pretty nice feature, although the maximum this mouse allows (8200) is laughably unnecessary. After a couple days of experimenting playing various games, I got mine honed in at 2000, where it has been ever since. -Ludicrous initial setup aside, Razer Synapse hasnt given me any problems yet! (EDIT: jk lolz) Cons: -I have had a few severe tracking issues. The reason though, it would seem, is because the sensor is incredibly, incredibly sensitive to any interference. The first couple days after owning it, I noticed occasionally the tracking would just kind of seize up and start doing circles instead of straight lines. As far as I can tell, each time it has been from tiny specks of hair or fuzz getting in the path of the sensor. This is with a brand new, spotless mouse pad too. It is definitely frustrating when it happens, since the rest of the time it tracks excellently. -The glossy plastics making up the mouse are fairly slick, including the main left/right buttons. I havent really noticed it that badly when gaming, but they definitely seem like they would get bad quick if youve got some sweaty hands. -Occasionally upon starting a game, it seems like the mouse gets stuck at a sensitivity double of what it should actually be set at. It basically makes any games unplayable until I restart my computer (simply restarting the game, restarting Razer Synapse, or unplugging the mouse hasnt had any success). I have no idea what the source of this problem is, but Im going to go ahead and blame Razer Synapse because I have absolutely no idea what else it could be. All in all, after researching for something lightweight, good for smaller hands, and possessing the right amount of secondary buttons, I feel like I made the right decision, and am definitely happy with my purchase.
