I was born and raised in Canada but have extensive experience living abroad in Asia, the Middle East, South America and the Caribbean. I love travel, music, popular culture and the arts. I graduated from York University in Toronto, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree in Communications and Humanities. I started my teaching career in South Korea and taught elementary school there for three years. also acquired a TOEFL Teaching Certificate and TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS training while teaching at Princess Noura University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Localização: São Paulo - São Paulo - Cerqueira César Hello, my name is Abianne and I’m from Colchester, a small town near London in the UK. I have been living in São Paulo for almost a year now and have been loving the diversity of music and arts events that the city offers and getting to know the wonderful people through teaching. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, this came from a fascination with other cultures and understanding global issues. This led me to various volunteering projects in Peru and Vietnam involving children, where I taught my first English lessons. Here I realised my love for teaching, the following year I completed my CELTA teaching qualification. Since then I have been teaching adults, online and in person. I am qualified to teach all levels, I use a variety of course books and supplement with native material from the BBC, TED talks when appropriate. The lessons being informative and interesting always being the priority! During my travels I also fell in love with India, practicing yoga and meditation. I am a keen lover of music and enjoy searching for the best nights of soul, jazz and Brazlian music here in São Paulo. Hello, my name is Sonia, I´m Brazilian, from São Paulo, and I teach Spanish and Portuguese for expats. I graduated in Arquitecture and Urbanism at USP and worked several years in this area. While I was working as an architect, I studied Letras in USP. After I had children I decided to start a new career that would allow me flexible hours and as I´m fond of studying languages I studied Spanish in Instituto Cervantes, then went to live in Bogotá to improve the language and started to give classes in companies. Nowadays I´m learning French. Besides the language structures I´m also used to present Cultural Brazilian habits, as well as politics, economical and historical facts of our country. I believe that when you learn a new language, a whole new world appears to you, is like to earn a new life. Olá, meu nome é Sonia, sou brasileira, nasci em São Paulo e ensino espanhol e português para expatriados. Eu me formei em arquitetura e urbanismo na USP e trabalhei vários anos como coordenadora de projetos. Enquanto trabalhava cursei Letras na USP. Depois que meus filhos nasceram decidi mudar de área para ter horários mais flexíveis e como sempre gostei de idiomas, estudei espanhol no Instituto Cervantes e fiz uma imersão em Bogotá para aperfeiçoamento. Depois disso, comecei a dar aulas em empresas. Atualmente estudo francês. Além das estruturas da língua utilizo como temas para as aulas elementos culturais, políticos, econômicos e históricos. I´m bilingual as I studied in a British International School and hold the Cambridge Proficiency in English Certificate (CPE), which qualifies me to teach English. I also hold a B.A degree in Law. I´ve taught students of different age groups and levels and I have particular expertise in Business English as I also work as a consultant for foreign companies coming over to Brazil. I cover several business topics from the brazilian and international markets as this is what I do full-time! I´m also very aware and love to talk about more culture and art-related subjects.
