Tough, but fun as can be. Too bad about the install issues I listed in the original review. This woulda been a 4 or 5 star rating for the campaign play. Original review: I needed to get this review up right away to hopefully save others great frustration. Before you put the disc in your PS3 for the first time, disconnect from the Internet and DO NOT do the update. Only after the game has been installed should you attempt any updates. If you attempt to do the update right from the start along with the initial instal (as the pop up screen will ask you to do upon initial start-up) you may run into some very severe issues. I did as have many others. Google it. It can cause the game to not play and freeze on a black screen and then take several hours to delete the bad patch. So, just remember to disconnect from the web first. Then install the game. Then reconnect to the web and do any updates. You will be glad you did. If you did not have this problem, good for you. I did and so did many others. Like I said, google it. I have been playing the game for a couple of hours now. About half as much time as it took to deal with the install issues. Game seems fine. I dont imagine it sucking. However, it can never get better than 3 stars from me given the terrible software issue upon install. It was just rediculous. Note too that if you already did the update that causes the freezing and are trying to delete it, it can take over 2 hours to delete. I used to be really into the Xbox 360 and got in PS3 pretty late so I missed a lot of PS3 games when they first came out. After recently playing resistance 3 let me just say WOW! Where to begin? Ill split it into three sections. Here we go. Story: Even though you dont have to play the first two resistance games to know whats going on is recommend it. The story I thought was pretty good. I liked the characters and there were some parts where the story had me like aw why did that happen? Haha it had me really into it. Its fairly long too. I like to take some breaks when playin a game. I think it took me three days to finish up the single player story. Overall I thought it was good. Graphics: The graphics are pretty damn good in resistance 3. Id say its probably one of the best looking games on the PS3. Right next to uncharted games and kill zone 2 and 3. Gameplay: Gameplay is great. I do enjoy first person shooters. Resistance 3 has you in some pretty good gun fights. There are moments when youll be fighting alone. Others times youll be up against giant monsters in boss fights. You can also upgrade weapons you use in the game which is pretty cool. Verdict: Resistance 3 is a damn good game. I honestly regret not play this one back in the day. If you own a PS3 and havent played resistance 3 then shoot get out there and grab a copy. Its a lot of fun. Also if youre like me and have become spoiled with your character being able to regenerate from injuries without the aid of a health pack then expect some annoyance as this game is like that. You dont have the luxury of a self regenerating character and while it takes some massive damage to finish your character off unless you can find some health packs on every corner you have to be careful. Still the game is incredible and if you already have the first or second game then this is a definite must to add to your PS3 game library. The first one had clunky controls while 2 it was just difficult and stressful. 3 takes place after 2. The protagonist from 2 is killed from the new protagonist of 3. The guns get some sort of upgrade after using them a lot. I cant go full in the games story details but its pretty great. Capelli has to trek cross-country to New York in order to destroy a gigantic terraforming machine before it drops the temperature so low that the planet can no longer sustain human life. His journey takes you to a number of great locals, the variety of which is one of the best aspects of the game. You start in a rundown, bleak dust bowl of a village with few survivors. Soon youre fighting off hordes of enemies while traveling on a tug boat down a creepy, mist-covered river. Later youre trying to survive being captured by a bunch of crazed escaped inmates in a decrepit prison. Theres even a thrilling train sequence that reminded me of "Uncharted 2," and a nightmarish town that reminded me of Ravenholm from "Half-Life 2." The cool weapons are the other key to "R3s" success; all of them level up through use and can be accessed via the weapon wheel as in "R:FoM," replacing only holding 2 at a time as in "R2." One new weapon lets you freeze enemies solid and then shatter them into pieces. Another makes green bubbly spores develop and then explode. There was online competitive and co-op multiplayer, but the servers were shut off in April of 2014. While searching for it, however, I came across Ankers newest entry, the SoundCore Sport XL. Given the price, my general satisfaction with Anker, and Amazons solid return policy, I decided to give both speakers a try. Ill note that the SoundCore Sport XL is probably more comparable to the JBL Charge 2 given that both units have a USB port to let you charge your phone or other device. The Flip 3 doesnt have charging output port. If you want the shortest possible answer: Were keeping the Flip 3 and giving the SoundCore XL as a gift. But it was almost a coin toss about which was going to stay. Sound: I wanted this speaker to have enough volume for modest outdoor gatherings (both meet that criteria, though the Flip 3 is probably a touch louder) and sound good enough that I wouldnt mind having it playing in the house. Im also biased against todays tendency for consumer speakers to emphasize bass response over every other frequency range. If you like your music boom-y, Im not going to like the same speakers that you will. My wife and I listened to each of them across a wide range of music from classical to folk to hip-hop to pop to hard rock, trying to get a sense of which we liked better. The answer, as it turned out, was "it depends." The Flip 3 is definitely not as "flat" audibly as the SoundCore. Within the limits of what you can do with a small speaker, the Flip seems to emphasize the bass and treble ends of the spectrum more. High treble even sounded unnaturally "sizzly" for a couple songs. In others, the vocalist almost seemed a bit buried under the rest of the mix--though never disturbingly so. (Were talking nuance here, and your ears may have a different experience.) The SoundCore is definitely more flat sounding. It doesnt produce as much bass as the Flip, but thats not necessarily a bad thing, and it never had the sizzling issue in the treble. It just sounds...even. People used to the punchy sound emphasized by consumer speaker and headphone manufacturers, however, may find that the music lacks a bit of life. Which did we prefer? Ultimately it depended on what we were playing. Folk, country and music from the 70s and 80s that clearly was mixed with the intent of playing over the radio we often preferred on the SoundCore. More current pop, rock, and hip-hop sounded better to us on the JBL. In the final count, the JBL came out on top, but not by much. Ive been listening to both for a few days now, switching back and forth every so often, and I find that Im inclined toward the JBL, but I certainly dont mind the SoundCore. Size and Build: The SoundCore Sport XL is about 7 x 3 x 1.75 inches and wrapped in what feels like very sturdy, slightly rubbery plastic. Its definitely heavy in your hand and makes you feel confident that it can hold up to some rigorous outdoor use. The biggest issue with the design is that I found myself constantly grabbing into the bass port on the back, which includes a metal cover over a stretchy membrane for a passive woofer. I have no idea if pushing on the cover would damage the passive woofer, but it was disconcerting. The Flip 3 is 6.5 x 2.5 inches and covered in a dense fabric with hard plastic ends. Its slightly lighter in the hand, and the cylindrical shape makes it more comfortable to pick up and carry around. It feels solidly built if not quite as tank-like as the SoundCore. Never before has someone created this combination of size, sound quality, loudness, bass response, splash proof all for only $99! I have previously owned UE boom, Denon Envaya mini and JBL charge plus 2. These are the Flip 3s closest competitors. Here is my summary of the competition. UE boom: the reason I believe the UE boom is so popular is the form factor is just right and its loud for its size. What I dont like about the UE Boom is its $200 price tag and almost no bass whatsoever. Denon Envaya Mini: so close, I just wish it was louder and the battery would only last a few hours a moderate volumes. JBL Charge 2+: overall really good speaker, my two issues are, the sound profile is too bloated. Yes it has good bass for its side but it tends to drown out the higher frequencies and has quite a bit of dynamic compression at high volumes. Also I just wish it was a little smaller to fit in camping chair cup holders and more portable. And now for the JBL flip 3: its as loud as the UE boom, does not have the battery life issues of the Denon and does not have bloated bass like the charge 2+. The sound profile is well balanced, the upper frequencies are slightly upfront with decent bass for its size. My prediction, this will be the best selling Bluetooth speaker in its class! Confirmed excellent flat frequency response. See attached image for nearfield measurement of the Flip 3 (green), Flip 4 (purple), and Envaya Mini (gray). I gave this mouse to my husband, and he says he loves this mouse and its perfect for his large hands. (I have changed the rating from 4 to 5 stars because my husband loves it better than his old style Naga, but if you have small hands then I dont think this will be comfortable for you). I have switched to a Logitech G403 and find that its much better for smaller hands. I have been using a Razer Naga MMOG for years for games like WoW and FFXIV. Well, the left and right top buttons were no longer responsive, so I decided to get the Razer Naga Chroma MMO corded mouse as a replacement. The price is great on Amazon, and I love the cycling lights. I also like that the number pad keys stick out more than my previous Naga, making the keys easier to find by touch. The new Naga has a rougher texture than the old Naga. Im used to the smooth texture, so that will take some getting used to. Now, despite being larger than my old Naga, it is about 5 grams lighter. Not a game changer, but something to be aware of. The biggest issue for me is the large size of this mouse. I am female and my hands arent that big (6.5 inches from bottom of palm to top of middle finger, 3 inches across middle of palm). The mouse is wider and slightly taller than my old one. This makes it a little awkward and uncomfortable to grip. If your hand is larger than mine, then this will probably be great for you. I understand that Razers demographic will for the most part have larger hands than mine. The part of the mouse protruding out of the right side is what made it uncomfortable for me. The thumb grip position between all the buttons also forced me to hold the mouse in one set position rather than being free to adjust my grip. Just didnt work for me. Also, you have to have razer synapse open all the time in order to use your profiles or use custom dpi values... the moment you close synapse, the dpi values revert to the default pre-programmed ones. I also just re-bought a razer mamba, and while I was able to save profiles to the on-board memory just a few months ago via razer synapse, close it, and continue to use those profiles just fine without synapse open when i originally tried out the mamba, now I cannot do that either. i.e. the new razer synapse doesnt allow you to save profiles to the on-board memory of a mouse that previously, just a few months ago mind you, was able to actually use its on-board memory... I dont know why razer did that but it really sucks imo. I remember when synapse didnt even ask you to log in, it was just plug and play. You chose whether to save the profile on synapse or the mouses on-board memory. Now your telling me I cant even use the on-board memory of a mice??? Im really sick of this always online/interconnected baloney these days. Other than that, the mouse was almost perfect. I really liked the buttons around the thumb grip. And there is something about the 16000 dpi 5g laser sensor in older razer mice that just feels so darn good... even newer mice like the logitech g pro dont feel as good to me. It has many display settings (colors, color-cycling, etc.) and each button can be programmed to do whatever you want, so as a gamer, he is absolutely thrilled with it. He also loved the shape (very ergonomic) and that the texture has better grip, as opposed to his older version that was very smooth and not the easiest to hang on to when youre trying to move quickly. It also allows you to speed up or slow down the response time of the mouses movements on-screen, so he can customize it to exactly what he needs. Were both really happy with the purchase! I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of options I have for programming this mouse. The grip itself is awesome! I love it so much! I really like that I have the option to dim the LEDs from 33% to 100%. At 100% brightness, the unit gets a bit warm, but I couldnt care less. Its just keeping the place warm for me until I come back -_o I now have my buttons set to change between Windows 10 virtual desktops by using a macro of "ctrl + win + left" & "ctrl + win + right". I also have the task manager on one, but I wasnt able to setup a macro to get through opening a program that needs UAC ok/cancel. I was a bit disappointed at that, but I will get over it. Ive owned every iteration of the Razer Naga and I cant imagine playing games without it. The 12 buttons on the side make it easy to switch weapons in FPS games and use entire action bar in MMOs just by using the thumb. I primarily use it for playing MMOs and having the entire damage rotation and targeting in one hand is very convenient. This iteration added ability to quickly step up or down DPI on the mouse making it more or less sensitive for when you need that extra precision. This is not as useful in MMO games but helps a great deal when playing a sniper in FPS games. Being able to create macros for the buttons makes it even more convenient if you need to do a sequence of events with a single button press. The mouse overall feels well built and fits my hand perfectly. Ill get straight to the point... Pros: 1) I didnt pay for them. Cons: 1) Goes straight to pairing mode when powered on. No option to turn on without pairing mode. About a minute after powering on and connecting there are three series of beeps that are extremely annoying. I believe that the headphones are searching for a second device to pair with. 2) With no sound/music playing there is a constant ticking in the right ear piece along with random digital noise/static. 3) Theyre a little too tight even with my relatively small head. 4) The earcups get a little moist/sweaty after a very short period of time. 5) Not very loud, not much bass, accentuated midrange. 6) When changing the EQ modes theres no way to tell what setting its on or even how many there are to rotate through; the voice just says "EQ changed". In summary, Im glad I didnt pay for these because they would get returned. My cheap Bluedio T2S are better in all regards. The LE of Guilty Gear Xrd comes with: Special Art slip cover (same as pictured,) custom case in the shape of "The Backyard" book from the game, artbook called the codex which is slightly larger than a PS3 game case, a vocal OST of 10 songs, the game, and a key chain in the shape of main character Sols belt buckle that says "FREE." The artbook called codex also has detailed entries for every relevant character in the Guilty Gear franchise as well as some extra artwork and fun facts. Give lots of background on the franchise outside the game and has quality art inside as well. The box it comes in is shaped like a hollowed out book and looks great on display, same with the slip cover on or off. The game itself is great. Several offline modes such as combo and game mechanic challenges. A character upgrade mode called M.O.M. (also can be played online), and a host of online options mainly player and ranked matches but with a host of lobbies and features. A gallery where you can unlock the character Sin for free, as well as music from past games that can be selected in matches, artwork, and various things to customize your online profile. Story mode is basically a long series of cutscenes and dialogue but is animated and presented extremely well and can be paused/saved at any point. Length is about the size of the average anime season. Arcade acts as an opening for each characters motivations for story mode. Largest positive, cross play with PS4 and PS3! Played about 3 hours straight with a friend in Montreal Canada, while I live in Georgia USA and had 3F lag as indicated by the game. Btw the game shows your moment to moment lag! when online. This is all crossed play while he was on PS4 and Im on 3. Only down side is the graphical jealousy you will have when you see the PS4 version. It is simply a cleaner presentation than the PS3 obviously and no effect on the actual game. The cutaways for supers and quality of character models in opening/ending/story modes are more closely represented to the PS4 models, than the ingame PS3 models which are still amazing, but its a noticeable difference. That said the game runs the same on both a smooth 60fps with no slowdowns. Lots of content to playthrough if you like the actual fighting portion of fighting games! I buy the ps3 copy because i have the arcade sticks for this console, and the difference between version is not that much, outside of the 1080p improvement, and i think the framerate at the beggining of the fight is also better, but nothing game breaking. Its a love letter to Guilty Gear fans. The game, its more of the same at first but as you dig youll see a few differences. MOM mode is different from past iterations, Survival mode is gone all together. There is new music, and while everyone plays the same as they have there are a few new tricks to keep you coming back. Interesting way to tell its story, telling you to clear arcade mode first before going to visual-novel story mode, completely devoid of fighting unlike the recent Blazblue installment. Tutorials and controls are easy to get into and probably a lot better at explanation than Blazblue. Its network mode leaves something to be desired, sometimes disconnecting and bad frames rates. But when it works, it really works, lag is seemingly nonexistent. Overall, good but a little inferior compared to Blazblue. The case itself is a hard silicone and the corner protector is very thin (Im not sure if it would protect the phone without the silicone). I saw how easily it worked for him, and how accurately he could write or draw with it, and was excited to get one for myself. When the mini arrived, however, I was a little disappointed with its performance. It was not as responsive as it seemed with my friend. I had to jab into my iPad pretty hard to make it work. I was also VERY disappointed that the Jot Mini wasnt made of a metal that clings to the magnets in my cover. One day, during a chorus rehearsal, my friend saw me struggling and asked if he could try my mini, as he had the Jot Pro. He struggled to make it work, too, and let me borrow his pro for the evening. I was AMAZED at the difference. The Pro is much more responsive than the mini. The plastic tip is designed to conduct better than the minis tip, and the tips are not interchangeable due to the size difference. The Pro even has magnets in it, so it clings to my iPad cover better than a simple piece of metal. Spend the extra $10. Get the pro. This stylus doesnt scratch gorilla glass, but it will scratch screen protectors. This WILL break (quit working). Adonits warranty... isnt. You will have to fix it yourself or return it to Amazon. Go ahead and buy a replacement disc (they sell them on here) and a tube of Arctic Silver thermal conductive grease now to save yourself some aggravation and shipping. When the jot stops working in a week or a month, put a TINY bit of grease in the disc socket, and it will work again for a while. When a combination of cleaning and regressing wont work anymore, use a replacement disc and start the process over again. So why buy a Jot when it is an unreliable, frustrating thing? See the 5-star reviews; theyre right. The original jot, the jot pro, the jot pro second generation, the jot touch, and the jot script…and now the jot mini. Except for the script, that just doesnt work consistently, the others all work very well as a precision stylus. There are still two things that absolutely aggravate me about Adonits products. First: Adonit needs to learn how to make screw-caps that stay put. Their screw caps—not one of them—locks down and stays put. They all get loose, come off, end up in a pocket, in the washing machine, on the floor, or just lost. This is serious because if you lose the cap, youll snag the tip-disc and flick it off and soon you have nothing. On the generally not-working Script, the lose cap causes the battery contact to be intermittent and if you lose it, your stylus is just dead. It has no useful unpowered mode. Second: Adonit needs to figure out pocket clips! Very few of their products come with any means of securing the stylus in your pocket. In the case of the Script, that means you can easily lose an $80 stylus which maybe isnt so bad since, in my experience, the Script didnt end up working anyway;-) Seriously, Adonit makes a cap with a pocket clip, and though the threads fit most of their regular sized styli, the barrels on those are wider than the cap which makes them tricky to screw on. And the Jot Mini… seriously… the clip has a very cool looking design, but the opening is too big to stay secure in most shirts, so it flops around, comes loose, ends up in the bottom of the pocket or lost. Adonit has done one thing very well (except for the Script): theyve made styli that are great to write, highlight and draw with, though the disc tip mechanism is potentially fragile, Sadly, that very finely executed feature is not very well protected since the caps dont stay on tight and the pocket clips are non-existent or too cool to work well. First, I need to mention I think the price for the pro is way too high. Ive always thought the precision of the Adonit stylus would be ideal for me. I like having a stylus to utilize as part of my workflow, but refused to pay what Adonit charges for the Jot Pro. Im glad they came out with the mini, which is basically a Jot Pro for all intents and purposes, but with a shorter body and a reasonable price. This makes me wonder how they come up with their prices, is a longer body worth twice the cost? Anyhow, this stylus was a nightmare. That little disc falls off with the slightest provocation. Then you have to find it. Good luck with that! It was literally like looking for a needle in a haystack. Just imagine trying to find a quarter inch piece of glass at night, in carpet, or in the cushions of a couch. It can be done, but with each painstaking sweep of your furniture, work space, clothes, books etc. your patience will be tested. Luckily, for the price of a whole new stylus you can buy yourself a pack of three of these wonderful discs. What they should have done was added threads to the disc and tip of the stylus so that the disc could be screwed onto the stylus more securely and not pop off because you breathed hard. Literally, I would have to hunt for the little glass needle in a haystack three or four times a day. Finally, before even a week of use,while I was in the middle of studying, the stylus quit. One second it was writing fine, the next it was not writing at all. I was not sad. I was relieved, because I could return it as defective and rid myself of the nuisance, which is what I did.
